Breakfast in Prishtina
Breakfast in Kosovo is usually simple and savory. Most locals grab burek from a neighborhood shop with a glass of kos (yogurt drink) or start the day with a macchiato and a slice of cake at a cafe.
If you want a proper sit-down breakfast, many central cafes serve eggs, cheeses, honey, olives, and fresh bread.
Lunch and dinner
Lunch is often the main meal of the day in Kosovo. Many restaurants serve daily specials at lunchtime with traditional stews, grilled meats, and salads.
Dinners are social and long, especially on weekends. Expect a slow pace, lots of small plates, and at least one round of raki.
Cafes and coffee culture
Kosovans take coffee seriously. The macchiato is the default order, and you will see people sitting at cafes for hours, catching up with friends. Central areas like Pejton, Soba Street, and Mother Teresa Boulevard are full of great spots.
Try at least one traditional Turkish coffee while you are in town. It is usually served with a glass of water and a small piece of rahat (Turkish delight).
